Starting up an award-winning business in one of the UK's deepest recessions is no easy feat. But Jane Atherton and Julia Vassie did just that with Love Success, London's leading PA and secretarial recruitment agency, reporting record results every year since its inception.
Starting out as consultants for a national agency 26 years ago, Jane Atherton and Julia Vassie comment, "It was very different without technology to assist us. We met clients daily to arrange interviews and discuss recruitment strategy, and we paid temps with weekly cheques! The fax machine hadn't even been invented. Seriously!"
They soon realised that their joint ambitions of making a difference through their people gave them a sense of great satisfaction. They were promoted to lead several teams, offices, and areas, turning loss-making centres into profit-making top-performing businesses.
They then moved on to opening new offices and realised this was their passion. They loved recruiting and training staff who could fulfill their dreams in being the best in their arena of recruitment professionals.
Julia and Jane went on to successfully build a business through organic growth and co-founded Huntress Commercial in 2000, which expanded into a £100 million turnover company with 22 offices nationwide. After a successful MBO, in 2009 they took a short break to return and launch a new staff-owner-managed recruitment consultancy in the heart of London.
Their passion is to focus solely on mutual candidate and client satisfaction. Love Success started as a staff-owned and managed boutique recruitment consultancy and very quickly transformed into an industry-leading and award-winning business. Most importantly, without compromising on the original foundations it was built on: trust, honesty, and continuity.
